The scene has changed out of all recognition with the low-rise residential and retail development having been replaced largely with multi-storey office blocks https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/839189. The bus is a Leyland PD2 with bodywork by Weymann, new in 1950. Bournemouth was one of just a handful of bus operators who specified a full width cab on front-engined double deck buses. Also unusual is the forward passenger doorway as well as the traditional open platform at the rear. Originally the bus had a second staircase at the front, the intention being to speed up passenger flow; passengers boarded at the rear but alighted at the front. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=2114547&displayclass=slide
