Holme Wood trolleybus terminus, Bradford - 1966

Termini involving reversing the bus into a side street were a common feature of urban bus routes in the days when services were operated with a conductor. In this view, on Knowles Lane at Dorchester Crescent, the nearer vehicle was on driver training duties, with the further vehicle on normal service waiting its turn to reverse. No.833 in the foreground had an interesting history. It started life in 1949 in Darlington, and was purchased by Doncaster Corporation in 1952. It then passed to Bradford in 1959, where it was fitted with a new body before entering service in 1963.
