The wall in the foreground is the original perimeter wall separating Long Meadow Mills from Back Brook. Long Meadow Mills were built in 1854 to manufacture carpet and progressed through changes of ownership until closure in 1972. Some of the mills were demolished for car parking in the early 1970s and the rest was converted to a manufacturing and trading estate. The multistorey block in the background is the former Art-Deco office block of 1936 for Victoria Carpets. The square tower in the centre is on Mortons Works of 1870.
