This three storey building is a former yarn store that was part of the largely demolished Park Wharf Works. The site dates back to the early 1800s and was to become the main Axminster weaving unit for Richard Smith and the Carpet Manufacturing Company. In the 1950s this self contained site took in dyed yarns and produced finished Axminster carpets. Production ceased by 1983 when much of the site was demolished to make way for the ring road.
