Looking towards Leicester on the former Midland line from Rugby; this stretch leading north from Ullesthorpe is now a footpath. The site of Ullesthorpe station was behind the photographer. The railway opened in 1840 and was closed from 1st January 1962 - unlike many lines freight traffic did not outlast the passenger service.
