Surveyed by the Milestone Society. Toll Cottage by the A702 at Burnfoot, south west of the village. The gate name was Hartside Lamington. On the lands of hartside, hence the name. OS Names Book c1858 Vol 41 P 34 the toll collector was Abram Brown. It was on the Biggar and Leadhills Trust tollroad.
