Cotton spinning mill built 1905. Architect was P S Stott and there were 105,000 spindles turned by a 1400 horsepower inverted vertical cross compound steam engine by G Saxon of Openshaw. The engine house projects on the right and I believe the car park is the infilled lodge (cooling pond). The mill is now in other usage. Brook no. 2 Mill is seen in the background and has since been demolished.
