Milestone surveyed by the Milestone Society. In a cul de sac at the northern end of Wetherby leading to a Car Wash. This was originally the A1 cut off when the Wetherby by-pass was constructed. That is now by-passed by the M1. 615 of these milestones were erected on behalf of the newly formed West Riding County Council in 1893/94. Over half can still be found from Sedbergh in the north west to south of Rotherham and into Saddleworth over the Pennines.
