The sign takes the form of a wishing well built by two local builders, William Chapman and Herbert Sadler. The sign marks the silver jubilee of King George V, and the coronations of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II, and was unveiled in 1982. Trees were planted in the plot to mark each of the occasions but not all have survived.
