A large area of the wood had been almost clear felled, and an ingenious six-wheeled vehicle, distantly seen at the edge of the clearing, was converting the felled trees into logs. It picked up the tree and passed it longitudinally through its work head, where the side branches were stripped off, cutting the trunk into lengths as it went.
