The village sign which is sited on The Green is double sided and unfortunately suffering from the effects of the weather. The spire on the tower of the church of St. Mary pierces the clouds while a woman pleads for her life behind a rather sickly looking knight holding a shield and sword while a ginger headed Viking, axe in hand and horns in helmet has just jumped off his longship and is wondering what to do next. A somewhat comical scene poorly executed. The reverse, shows a Norfolk wherry on the River Thurne with Martham Ferry drainage mill on the opposite bank, strangely the spire of the church is apparent above the scene. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6668197
