The large brick building on Westover Road was the old ABC cinema. It opened on 19th June, 1937, with a showing of Fred and Ginger in 'Shall We Dance?' The years proved reasonably successful but the modern styles have moved in a different direction; the cinema moved to a new complex and the old place closed in 2017. A developer, Libra Homes, bought the site and are in the process of converting it into residential properties.
