Although billed as Cressbrook Mill this is actually three conjoined former cotton mills that are now converted to housing. On the left with two roof ventilators is Cressbrook Mill that was built in 1823. On the right with pediment and cupola is Wye Mill built in 1814. Between and perpendicular to these two is Arkwright's Mill that was built in c1783 and rebuilt in 1787. The complex was water powered from the River Wye. The wheels were later replaced by turbines and steam power was added, first by reciprocating engines and later by a steam turbine with rope drive.
