Down which molten lead was dropped to form balls. Built in 1800 by Walkers Maltby & Co. This is apparently the oldest of only three such towers surviving in the UK. Grade II* listed. The leadworks closed in 2001. The site was being redeveloped as housing, although whether the tower itself was being converted to accommodation is not clear.
