Although the building serves the villages of Penny Bridge and Greenodd, its official name is Egton-cum-Newland, St Mary the Virgin. The chancel (right) dates from 1855 and the transept (left) from 1890. The remainder dates originally from 1791, with several later alterations described more fully in the Church Heritage Record.
