Maybe the name of the pub Image was derived from the placename - Penny Bridge - and the design of the old (pre-1971) penny coin which featured Britannia with her trident and shield. The old coin also had a lighthouse in the design, here replaced by a representation of the nearby Sir John Barrow Monument.
