This old milestone is on the original line of the road from Carlisle to Edinburgh now a very minor road. It would have had two plates, the smaller top one with the legend Edinburgh 78 and the larger lower one Carlisle 16 Longtown 7. Moderator, please accept this pic it is the only one I have at the moment.
