This stone was, when first found in 2009, well sunken into the ground on the A701 opposite Thirlestane Cottage. A new commercial estate has now been established and the stone reset at the correct height. It would have had a semi-circular plate with the legend 'TO EDINR 5 MILES' and be a stone from the Lasswade (Straiton) District Trust's tollroad.
