Looking towards the northern side of the burial ground from close to the chapel. The cemetery was an additional burial ground for St Mary parish, its third, the other two being St Mary Churchyard and a separate cemetery on North Bar Within. The original three-acre plot on Molescroft Road was consecrated, and parish burials started in 1869. It was closed in 1963 except for burials in existing plots.
