Seen from the southern boundary of St Mary's Cemetery on Molescroft Road. The chapel partly visible here was built in 1867-8. The cemetery was an additional burial ground for St Mary parish, its third, the other two being St Mary Churchyard and a separate cemetery on North Bar Within. The original three-acre plot was consecrated, and parish burials started in 1869. It was closed in 1963 except for burials in existing plots.
