Weymouth's Esplanade was the place of the old tourist centre, but that was demolished in 2019 and this new building created. It houses a beach office, several public toilets and a retail section. Some people complained that the design detracts from the Georgian architecture, or that the services are not appropriate for the site. However, after work was suspended during the Covid-19 lockdown, it was opened in August, 2020.
