Looking upstream from the new Pooley Bridge towards Ullswater. At present only one footway (the downstream one) is open, but it appears that little apart from a tarmac surface to the roadway remains to be done before the bridge is fully opened later in October. For a history of the bridges old and new, see www.geograph.org.uk/article/The-Pooley-Bridges .
