The ancient barn is a tithe barn, one of four built on the orders of the Abbott of Glastonbury in the early fifteenth century. It included a dovecot for the local lord of the manor and has had a number of alterations over the years. The roof is an unusual feature in that it used compacted earth. Following a collapse in the 1930s it was rebuilt and handed over to the National Trust.
