This area between the city walls and the canal, which had become derelict, was landscaped in the recent past. The area between the steps has been terraced, presumably to represent a Roman style theatre, although there is not much room at the bottom for a performance. The city walls can be seen on the right heading towards the Northgate. Morgan's Mount is a small tower-like structure, immediately behind the camera, that has been closed for some time.
