This dry dock alongside the former entrance to Devonshire Dock is closed by a single sliding gate. The gate opens by being pulled into this slot by the chains operated by a hydraulic motor. It all looks in operable condition but I have no idea when it was last opened as there are no facilities around the dock and its far end is sealed by a caisson to provide a dry space for The Dock Museum.
