Now used to store silage bales. Beyond the gates on the left are the overgrown ruins of Newhouserigg Colliery. This had a short life of one year from 1895 to 1896. It is possible that the railway to the colliery was never used and might even have been abandoned before it was completed thus leaving the nearby road bridge as a bridge over a railway that never existed.
