Ordnance Survey documents indicate that in 1980 a rivet benchmark levelled at 7.060m above Newlyn Datum was verified on the culvert for a ditch which then ran along the grass strip between the pavement and the wall, with the culvert located where the drain passed under the house entrance drive.
