Opened in 1848 by the North Staffordshire Railway on the line from Derby to Stoke-on-Trent, this station closed in 1881 when it was replaced by the current station situated some 200m behind the camera position. View west towards Leigh and Stoke-on-Trent. The current road bridge covers the eastern end of the former platforms and also the site of the main building, which had been next to the left-hand track in this view.
