This pub was a Home brewery tied-house it then consisted of three or four separate rooms - it is now "open-plan". It stands on the corner of Castle Gate and St Nicholas Street. The entrance from Castle Gate (just left of centre in the picture) used to be surmounted by a whale bone, this has now been moved inside as it was deteriorating rapidly.
