Bradford Road is named after Orlando Bridgeman, 1st. Earl of Bradford. The family owned estates in Great Lever purchased by Orlando's ancestor John Bridgeman who was chaplain to King James 1 and later Bishop of Chester. The names Bridgeman and Orlando are also used as street names in Bolton.
