The banks of the Avon have plenty of landing stages, one of which is opposite the Bristol Ariel Rowing Club. It was founded in 1870 and based on a barge; the fleet of barges were named after characters in Shakespeare's play The Tempest. This distinctive clubhouse was built by the club in 1900.
