Late 18th century, both cottage and barn are Listed Grade II, separately. The cottage is on the site of St Catherine's Chapel, built adjacent to a well/spring of the same name, reputed to have healing properties. Some efforts were apparently made to develop this as a spa in the early 18th century, from which the cottage gets its name.
