Aqueduct, Forth and Clyde Canal, Possil Road

The aqueduct is part of the Glasgow branch of the canal, between Hamiltonhill and Port Dundas. The original aqueduct was built in 1790, and is just to the left (northwest) of the current one. It was quite low in height, and about 1880 the current one was built, so it could allow the passage of horse-drawn trams underneath. The lower arch carries the waterway of the canal, the outer arch carries the towpath and parapet.
