Looking towards the village and the grid line, which must be about level with the furthest cow. The old railway embankment is visible to the left and somewhere hidden behind the trees it cuts straight through the site of a motte, presumably erected soon after the Norman conquest, but considered to be in the way by Victorian railway engineers.
