Bookbench #13 by David Graham. A trail of 24 similar benches was laid out in and around Basingstoke to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death. "Austen empowers women, and the bright colours of this bookbench and its comic book style are a fun way to celebrate Jane Austen's super-heroines! A positive message of strength and vibrancy to emphasise the relevance of her work in today's society. It is a colourful and creative work of art that links Austen of the past with women of today. Sit here to contemplate Jane Austen in this calm corner of relaxation and learning on a busy hospital site." (Plaque next to the bookbench, 2017.)
