This rather magnificent building was built in Regency style in 1830 for Sir Josiah Mason, industrialist and philanthropist (1795 - 1881). It belonged at one stage to George Cadbury (of the chocolate business) who passed it to the Quaker Settlement in the early 1900s, and it's undergone a number of changes over the years, but still retains much of its original features and style.
