Bridges across Station Road, East Leake

Carrying the former Great Central Railway London Extension. Like most (if not all) of the small intermediate stations on the London Extension, East Leake had an island platform; therefore, the Up and Down lines here were spread apart to provide space for the platform in between, hence the provision of two bridges here. East Leake station closed in 1969, when passenger services between Nottingham and Rugby were withdrawn. However, the section of line through here was retained to provide access to a military installation at Ruddington and the gypsum works at the north end of East Leake. More recently, this section has been taken over by the Great Central Railway (Nottingham), who run passenger trains at weekends, although there appear to be no plans to reopen East Leake station.
