Florence Mine - fan

Florence Mine is a disused ironstone mine with appreciable surface remains. This show the mine's ventilating fan that pulls air up the shaft and exhausts it up a square brick 'chimney'. The air enters the eye of the fan and is expelled centrifugally. some of the blades are rotted away and there is some junk dumped in front of the fan. This view is through an opening that would have been closed when the fan was running. This is a relatively small diameter, fast-running, single inlet fan, most probably a Sirocco fan by Davidson & Co of Belfast.
