After dithering for years over the issue, Aberdeen City Council has responded to the Covid-19 crisis of 2020 by pedestrianising Union Street to allow social distancing to be maintained more easily. Here we are looking eastwards towards the junction with Market Street; farther back is the huge tower of the town house and in the distance is the Citadel (the Salvation Army headquarters modelled on Balmoral).
