Disused sewage pumping station in Rons Cliff Wood, Cawthorne

This is a mystery. The large-scale OS map captions it as a sewage pumping station, and the only house nearby is Heald Head, now ruined. It would be most unusual for an isolated house in the countryside to drain to a pumping station rather than a septic tank or cesspit. Also where would it pump to? Maps also show a footbridge, which could have carried a pipe.
