A closer look at the artwork on the side of the Swan Buildings (Image]). It was created by Sheffield-based Street artist Phlegm https://streetartsheffield.com/artists/phlegm for the 2016 Cities of Hope Festival https://inspiringcity.com/2016/06/12/cities-of-hope-brings-some-of-the-worlds-top-street-artists-to-manchester/ which brought nine renowned street artists to the Manchester to create new landmarks of hope on walls across the Northern Quarter and surroundings. Phlegm is well known for his detailed black and white illustrations. For Cities of Hope, he addressed the theme of sustainability by painting this black and white image of a self-sustaining city encapsulated into a water bottle. The image is very detailed and intricate as is his usual style.
