A stranded Lion's Mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion%27s_mane_jellyfish ) on the beach at Groompsort. These are regular visitors to the coastal waters in the area, usually in summer, and a fair number are always seen on the beaches locally. They can give a very nasty sting - I know of sea swimmers who have been hospitalised after an encounter so they are best avoided.
