Taken from High Stanners Bridge https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6524918, this photograph shows the river upstream, immediately west of the bridge. When the first Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area was published in 1866 there were no properties on either bank of the river along this stretch.
