In Spring 2020, British news about Brexit and global warming (which could kill >50% of them) was largely replaced by news about the Covid-19 pandemic (which could kill <1% of them). Apart from the obvious expense in money and carbon emissions, roadworks in this area have required the felling of hundreds of trees and the building of ponds to collect traffic poisons.
