Preston Road Estate was built by Hull Corporation from the 1920s to the 1940s. Considerable redevelopment took place at the beginning of the 21st century when demolition of substandard properties took place. Much of the housing in Exeter Grove has been demolished; however, between Kilnsea Grove and Portobello Street a terrace of houses remains, including Nos.115 to 121 depicted above. Other than the houses at each end of the block, each pair of dwellings shares a passage to access the rear.
