In preparation of the opening of non-essential shops on 15 June (this being one of the measures of relaxing the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown) city council staff have been working hard to make some of the busiest streets safe for pedestrian shoppers by making the pavements one-way for everyone to walk up the street on one side and down the street on the other. As this view shows, the problem, however, appears to be that pedestrians continue to walk where they like - everyone depicted here is going the wrong way up or down the one way system. Whether people are simply not caring or are really that unobservant to miss the rather prominent markers sprayed on the pavement I do not know.
