Mainly of interest to those who have (or want to buy) boats that have engines and can't be conveniently lobbed onto the top of a car and kept at home, the brightly coloured marina office attracted the attention of our photographers. Apparently, with no lock gates, the marina is only accessible from the Tyne in the top half of the tide, but has free parking if you've paid for a mooring and want to sit and wait. I have to say I think I prefer a boat I can carry to the water at any state of the tide - we passed on quickly on our way from Derwenthaugh to South Shields.
