Back in 1984 Brummagem Boats, a family-owned business, had a sizeable boatyard and hire-boating operation at Sherborne Street Wharf. Most of the hire fleet consisted of conventional cruising narrowboats but they also built this tug - ideal for couples wanting a boating holiday. In those days the smart green and red boats enlivened what was then the distinctly drab appearance of the canals around Birmingham. The man at the tiller was employed by the company on a casual basis but he was a very experienced boatman.
