This worker tree bumblebee, Bombus hypnorum, is nectaring on the flowers of Cotoneaster in a garden in Bearsden. This species of bumblebee is a new arrival in the area. A continental species, it first arrived in the UK in 2001. The first record for Scotland was in 2013 in East Dunbartonshire. This spring it is by far the commonest bumblebee in local gardens - a really successful new colonist. For more information see https://www.bumblebeeconservation.org/tree-bumblebee-bombus-hypnorum/.
