This entrance is on St Stephens Street. Update: Intu has gone into administration but its shopping centres can continue to trade for the time being, as the shops were owned by separate companies. It would be support services such as cleaning and front of house, which were run by Intu that would be affected. The news came after last-minute talks, during which the firm had failed to secure a standstill loan agreement with £4.5 billion debts. (Eastern Daily Press, 26 June 2020) On 20 October 2020, Intu Chapelfield was renamed Chantry Place. The new name embraces the site’s medieval heritage as a secular college and chapel, built during the 1200s, which was known as a chantry. Chantry Road runs along the side of the centre and Chapelfield Plain has been renamed Chantry Square.
